An Overview


Jefferson Academy of Music was founded in 1979, as an original member of the Jefferson Center for Leaning and the Arts.
The name was chosen in honor of Thomas Jefferson, one our nation’s earliest devotees of the arts - and himself a violinist.


A nonprofit organization located in the Arts and Discovery Districts of Downtown Columbus, Jefferson is a member of the
National Guild for Community Arts Education and the National Center for Creative Aging.


A unique institution, Jefferson Academy of Music a blend of three program areas:

the Music Academy – music instruction for students of all ages and abilities

the Signature Series – touring artists in chamber concerts at the Columbus Museum of Art

our Outreach – a community advocate for music with performances in many locations
